2-7 Single Draw Poker

Kansas City Lowball or 2-7 Lowball Poker or 2-7 Single Draw Poker

2-7 Single draw poker is sometimes known as Kansas City Lowball or 2-7 Lowball poker. Like flop games, 2-7 Single draw poker is played with blind bets as well. In 2-7 Single draw poker after the blinds have been placed, the players are dealt 5 cards facing down. The player to the left side of the big blind will start the betting round. The betting will continue clockwise around the table. After the betting rounds have been completed, the remaining players will then choose to discard any cards which he doesn't want or 'stand pat'. If any player does discard any of his cards, he will be dealt with an equal number of replacement cards.

In 2-7 Single draw poker, the majority of the hands which are strong hands in poker games like Texas hold em or stud are considered weak hands. Hands like pairs, three of a kind, straight or flushes do not count for strength in 2-7 Single draw poker. The basic strategy in 2-7 Single draw poker is to get a low hand. Aces in 2-7 Single draw poker are ALWAYS considered high cards and count against you. For example, the player with the hand J, 9, 7, 3, 2 will beat A, 9, 7, 3, 2. The best hand is 7-5-4-3-2 made up of different suits. The reason is that this hand is the lowest in 2-7 Single draw poker without any Aces and is not a flush or a straight.
