Gin Rummy
Gin Rummy was created mainly for Rummy lovers who wanted to do away with the complications of the original game, while still retaining the basic concept. Popularly known as Gin, Gin Rummy is traditionally played by two players and requires a player to convert his/her hand of cards into a complete set of cards, or runs, or a combination of the two, which is known as melds. Though it might sound complicated, Gin Rummy is one of the easiest card games to learn and the more you practise the better you will get at it.
Gin Rummy was invented by Elwood T. Baker and his son C. Graham Baker, some time in the early 1900s. Some people believe that Elwood Baker was inspired by a Mexican game called Conquian and another game which is said to have heavy influence on Gin Rummy was Gin Poker, a much older game. Created to introduce a game that is faster than normal rummy, Gin Rummy didn't take off until the year 1940.
The Rules of Gin Rummy
The rules of this game are so simple that even a first time player can easily understand them. To begin with 10 cards are dealt to each player. The objective of the game is to create melds, and this involves two main concepts, drawing and discarding. Drawing requires the first player to pick a card from the discard pile or the stock, and discarding involves taking one card from your set and placing it face up on the discard pile. The moment you have sets or runs, lay out your cards on the table for all to see and accept you as the winner.
Now in case the stock pile ends, which means that only two cards exist in the stock pile, then the player who took the recent most card will have to discard a card, without being able to knock and then the game ends without a winner. It really is that easy, and apart from this, is a great way to have fun with your family , Jewellery or Jewelry Making and friends. So decide on a leisurely afternoon, call why not visit, Fossicking in New South Wales a few friends over and enjoy playing Gin Rummy.
