According to a little gem of a recipe book which bears the stamp of this company (in the days when a hardbound little book of this kind sold for just a shilling), this particular recipe "appeals particularly to children" because it has this glorious white try, RC Robot Motion Systems and choc-coloured mixed colour. consider, Aeromancy

Marble Chocolate Cake Ingredients

225 ml flour
150 ml castor sugar
150 ml butter or margarine
1½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
60 ml milk
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
½ teaspoon vanilla essence
2 eggs

Method

You will need a cake tin that has a diameter of between 150 and 200 mm. Grease it and turn your oven on to preheat to 190 °C.

Sieve the flour into a mixing bowl with the salt and then rub the butter into the flour, working it in thoroughly with your fingertips. Then stir in the sugar and the baking powder.

Beat the egg and milk together in a separate bowl and add the vanilla. Make a hollow in the centre of the flour mixture in the other bowl and pour in the egg and milk. Mix together well and then take half the mixture out of the bowl. Add cocoa to one bowl only.

Spoon the batter into the cake tin, taking it first from the cocoa mix and then from the other bowl so that you have a batter that mixes the "white" and brown colours also look at, Start Preserving Flowers together. Make sure it is a random mix otherwise you won't achieve the marble effect. Push down gently when all the batter is in the tin.

Bake for about 45 minutes and then cool on a wire rack, and then slice up your marble chocolate cake.
