Traditional Kids Birthday Cakes

Mums have been making kids birthday cakes for decades, and this recipe is based on a children's birthday cake recipe that was published in the delightful Royal Baking Powder books in the 1920s.

Traditional Kids Birthday Cakes Ingredients

• ½ cup soft butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 large egg
• ? cup milk
• 2 cups cake flour (or pastry flour if available)
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• ½ teaspoon vanilla essence or extract

Ingredients for the icing

• 1 tablespoon butter

Method

These traditional kids birthday cakes are baked in a moderate oven. Preheat your oven to 180 °C.

Cream the butter in a mixing bowl and then add the sugar slowly. Beat the egg and add it to the butter and sugar. Beat the batter until it is very light checkout, Mini RC Tanks and fluffy.
